# Work locations

> A person's work location decides which holiday calendar their requests are counted against.

Each person is counted against the holidays of their own work location. By default, that's the organization's work location — the country set in **Settings → Organization**.

**Who:** HR, Administrator, Owner.
**Where:** the person page → **Work location** section.

## Set a person's work location

Use this when a person works in a different country from the organization default.

    Click the person on the **People** list and go to the **Work location** section.

  <Step title="Choose the country and date">
    Choose the **Country** and the **Effective from** date. The change applies to days from this date onwards. Earlier periods stay as they were.

    Click **Save**.

**Result:** the section shows **Set individually from …**, or a scheduled change if the date is in the future. To make the person follow the organization setting again, click **Use organization default**.

<Warning>
  After you set a new work location, check that the [holiday calendar](/en/calendars/holiday-calendar) for that location and year is confirmed. If it isn't, the person can't submit requests for that period.

## Profile country is not the work location

The **Profile country** field (for example from an import) is only profile data. It does **not** change the holiday calendar. The calendar depends only on the work location.

## Location schedule

A work location can have its own work week. See [Work schedules](/en/calendars/work-schedules). Changing a location's country doesn't change its schedule.
