# Outlook calendar

> Approved absences automatically appear in employees' Outlook calendars as "Out of office".

**Who:** an Administrator or the Owner in Tivero, plus a Microsoft 365 administrator (one-time consent).
**Prerequisites:** a [connected Microsoft 365 integration](/en/microsoft-365/connect), people [synced from the directory](/en/microsoft-365/directory-sync), and the Start plan or higher.
**Where:** **Integrations → Microsoft 365 → Outlook Calendar**.

## Turn on syncing

    Click **Turn on syncing**.

    Microsoft requires an administrator permission to create and delete events in your organization's calendars. Click **Continue with Microsoft** and sign in with a Microsoft 365 administrator account.

    When you're back in Tivero, syncing is on. Tivero also adds ongoing and upcoming approved absences.

## What the event looks like

* An all-day event in the person's calendar, shown as **Out of office**.
* Private, with a neutral title. It **doesn't include** the absence type or the comment.
* One event per approved request.
* It appears within a few minutes of approval.

Tivero uses this access only for people synced with this workspace.

## What happens when things change

| Situation                        | Result                                                  |
| -------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| A request is approved            | The event is added.                                     |
| An approved request is cancelled | The event is removed.                                   |
| Syncing is turned off            | New absences don't reach Outlook. Existing events stay. |

  Syncing is one-way: from Tivero to Outlook. Changes made in Outlook don't come back to Tivero. Partial-day absences aren't synced.
