# Holiday calendar needs setup

> What to do when a request shows "The holiday calendar needs to be set up by an administrator."

## Symptom

When you submit a request, you see:

> The holiday calendar needs to be set up by an administrator.

Administrators also see a **Set up the calendar** link.

## Cause

Tivero counts requests only from a holiday calendar your organization has **confirmed**. For the person's work location and the year of the request, the calendar has the **Needs confirmation** status. This is a deliberate safeguard — Tivero doesn't guess which days are off for you.

The most common situations:

* a new workspace where nobody has confirmed the calendar yet;
* a request for next year, whose calendar hasn't been confirmed yet;
* the person was given a new [work location](/en/calendars/work-locations) in another country.

## Fix

**Employee:** ask an administrator or HR to confirm the calendar. Give them the year and dates of your request.

**HR, Administrator, Owner:**

    Click **Set up the calendar**, or go to **Settings → Working days and holidays → Holiday calendar by work location**.

  <Step title="Choose the work location and year">
    Choose the person's work location and the year of the request.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and confirm">
    Check the holidays, correct them if needed and click **Confirm the … calendar**.
  </Step>

**Result:** the person can submit the request right after you confirm.

## "No data" status

If the calendar has the **No data** status, Tivero doesn't have a calendar for this work location and year yet, so requests for that period can't be calculated yet. Write to us at [hello@tivero.app](mailto:hello@tivero.app).
