Check the organization details
Open Settings → Organization. Check the name, country, timezone and default language.

Set the work week
Open Settings → Working days and holidays. Check the organization’s week in the work schedules section. See Work schedules.

Confirm the holiday calendar
On the same tab, under Holiday calendar by work location, review the holidays for the current year and click Confirm the … calendar (with the selected year). Until the calendar is confirmed, requests counted in working days are blocked. See Holiday calendar.

Prepare absence types and policies
Review Absence types and Absence policies in the Organization menu. If you didn’t pick a template in the wizard, create a policy with Add policy. See Absence policies.

Create teams
Open Teams and add teams with their managers. See Teams and supervisors.

Add people
Open People and click Add person or Import. Give each person a team, a supervisor and a policy. See Add and invite people.

Set opening balances
If the policy uses a balance, set the opening balance when you add the person or later on their page. See Balances.

Check approvals
Open Settings → Approval processes and make sure every person has someone who approves their requests. See How approval works.

Send invitations
Invite people you added or imported without an invitation with Send invitation on the People list.
Result
Employees sign in, see their balance on the Dashboard and submit requests. Requests reach the right approvers, and approved absences appear in the Calendar.Optional
- Connect Microsoft 365 to sync people and Outlook calendars and to approve requests in Teams.
- Set additional company days off.
- Choose a plan before the trial ends.
If something doesn’t work
- An employee can’t submit a request: I can’t submit a request.
- A request doesn’t reach the right person: Approval issues.
